Welcome to savethemeerkat.com, a new campaign by the Captive Animals' Protection Society (CAPS) to protect meerkats and other ‘exotic’ animals from the pet trade.

Meerkats are an increasingly popular ‘pet’ animal, often kept by people with no understanding of their needs (which can only be truly met in their natural home of South Africa deserts). Many meerkats are cruelly traded and CAPS is working to end this trade and discourage people from having exotic pets.
